Gamma
Knife treatment is ideal for patients considered at high risk for
conventional surgery and anesthesia due to medical conditions or
advanced age. Gamma Knife may also be useful as an adjunct therapy.
Suitable candidates for treatment include patients with persistent
recurrent tumors after a surgical resection or radiation treatment.
While
Gamma Knife is most effective in treating patients with lesions,
AVMs and other inoperable conditions, it has also been proven to
be the single most effective treatment option for patients with
Cushing's disease, a disorder of the pituitary gland.
