Most patients leave the New Orleans Gamma Knife Center within 24 hours after arriving. Some patients may need to remain overnight for continued observation. Your neurosurgeon and Gamma Knife nurse will discuss follow-up care and any special instructions with you.
Gamma Knife has a low occurrence of side effects. Immediate adverse side effects rarely occur. Because each patient is unique, it is best to discuss your own specific risk of complications with your Gamma Knife doctor. Potential risks are listed on your informed consent page. Ask your doctor any questions you may have before the procedure begins.
